A light sculpture created with 512 individually addressable LEDs.

Patterns and animations are programmed into the cube to create the illusion of movement. LED drivers offer control of the lights by shifting through 64 columns and switching between 8 layers at a rate faster than they eye can see, implementing a phenomenon known as persistance of vision.

In the project's current stage of development, pixel data from a depth camera's field of vision controls the LED. The intention is to create a virtual pin screen. Using this technique, the creation of a virtual hologram, or 3D television, can be made possible.

This project was featured on Make Magazine's Hackerspace Roadshow.
